How to Find Acting Auditions
Looking for a safe, reliable way to get auditions?
Today I’m going to talk about my second favorite casting site to find auditions for actors.
I love Casting Networks. It is my second favorite casting site after Actors Access. If you haven't heard about my number one casting site, read about it here.
Now, let's be real. Casting Networks is one of my favorite audition submission sites for a reason. In 2017, Fox took all of their projects from Actors Access and moved them to Casting Networks. That made us say “Oh, hi Casting Networks, how are you?”
If you have an agent or manager, they're going to require you to be on this site. There's a monthly fee for videos. If you pay that and the monthly fee for unlimited photos, you can upload as many photos or as many videos as you want. That's not the case on all of these casting sites. I talked a little bit more in depth about how you can do some specific things to make those things pop in my video talking about Actors Access. Those things apply here as well. I just want to focus on those couple of differences between Actors Access and Casting Networks.
Just like the rest of the sites, you want to make sure you're on Casting Networks often. Agents and managers are sitting by their computers, waiting to submit their clients to these projects. It’s literally their job. That is what you are competing with. So if you are self-submitting, you want to be on these sites about three times a day.
There are extra roles and principal roles on Casting Networks. What I find is sometimes you'll see a lot of audience participation roles. You can be paid $50 to $100 to be an audience member or extra on a show taping. These are great ways to see behind-the-scenes and you learn what's happening in the industry. And you get paid to do it!
In terms of the principal roles on Casting Networks, you'll see spec commercials, sometimes regular commercials, as well as film and television roles. The range is not as large as some of the other sites, but it is definitely a place that you want to be on.
So how does Casting Networks work?
Let’s take a look at the website. Type in www.castingnetworks.com. Login or create your account. That’s where you can share access to your profile with any of your industry representation (managers or agents). They can send you out on whatever jobs they please. Now, with any of these sites, the most important part is your profile. It’s important to make sure you know the correct code to do this. Although they will usually walk you through it, it’s pretty self-explanatory. Now for your special skills, you really wanna make sure that anything that you click is something that you really are good at and you can do well.
After your profile is set up wonderfully, go ahead and submit for roles. Choose between principal and extra roles. Check the location and rate. If you are available, click Submit. Choose your headshot and any necessary notes. Whoever looks at your submission is probably only going to read the first four or five words, so make it nice and short. Depending on the entry, I might just write “YouTuber” or “TV movie actor.” Once you hit Submit, the screen will show that you have successfully submitted for that roles.
There are some things on the side menu that you can take advantage of. It lists photographers, coaches, and schools that you might want to check out. It also includes a directory for casting directors. If you have a project and you need to submit sides, your sides will also be listed on the side menu.
That’s it, guys! You want to make sure your profile is up-to-date and looking fantastic. You also want to make sure that you are submitting regularly. Thank you so much for your time and I’m wishing you love, light, and all that jazz.
